Fire Sprinkler Inspection
It is very important for your staff to realize and recognize that your building is protected by a sprinkler system as well as how it works if needed.
Allstate Sprinkler can demonstrate to your staff that the system is operational and compliant to NFPA requirements, as well as provide you with any information that may clarify any myths or questions you may have.

Sprinkler systems do not “just go off”. Most accidents take place due to extreme cold weather conditions, lack of heat, in-house vandalism and unfortunate accidents. We perform all preventative measures in order to avoid any problems that could exist with your system(s). Our inspection contracts are designed to review a multi-point checklist during each inspection. This method of inspection permits us to provide a thorough and documented account of the status of your sprinkler system(s).
NFPA 25 Inspection
In 2012, the FDNY adopted the National Fire Protection Association’s Standard #25 (NFPA 25).
The NFPA 25 law makes every building owner legally responsible for ensuring that all NFPA 25 inspections, testing and servicing intervals are performed by a licensed individual, and that detailed records are maintained for a minimum of 3 years and are available for inspection by the FDNY at any given moment. NFPA 25 Inspection Requirements:
NFPA 25 has a specific monthly, quarterly and annual inspection, testing and servicing requirements.
The reporting shall include information relative to the conditions of water supply, gravity and pressure tanks, valves, risers, piping, sprinkler heads, fire department connections, alarms, fire/booster/special service pumps, internal obstructions, and conditions of all other system equipment and appurtenances.

The W-12 FDNY Certificate of Fitness has been replaced by an S-12 Certificate of Fitness. Our inspection and service teams have been certified by the FDNY at such level. We also have customized computer software to assure your facility is in compliance so the inevitable fines & potential liability for not adhering to NFPA 25 can be avoided.

NFPA 25 Inspection Regimen Mandated by NYC:

Weekly Inspections:
NFPA 25 has numerous points for weekly visual inspection. It expects building occupants or owners to perform these weekly inspections. This may also require a weekly fire pump churn test, if applicable. You can perform the weekly visual inspections yourself, or we can perform them for you. Maintaining records of these inspections can significantly help you if you receive a violation. We maintain all records of every fire sprinkler inspection in NYC and the surrounding areas, and can provide both hard copies and digital records upon request by the FDNY.
Monthly Inspections:
Monthly inspections standardized by NFPA 25 are more in depth than the weekly regimen and we maintain all records of these on file to comply with FDNY requirements. In addition to the weekly inspection regimen, the monthly inspection includes, but is not limited to the visual inspection of the following components:
  • Inspection of all control valves only equipped with locks and/or supervised tamper switches.
  • Inspection of all gauges (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge systems) Inspection of all alarm valves.
  • Inspection of all dry pipe valves and their heated enclosures.
  • Inspection of spare sprinkler heads and spare wrench Inspection of fire department connections.
  • Inspection of the backflow device.
  • Inspection of the booster pump and jockey pump.
Quarterly Testing and Inspections:
Quarterly tests and inspections standardized by NFPA 25 include the monthly visual inspection(s) identified above as well as a much more detailed visual and hands-on testing regimen. The quarterly fire sprinkler inspection also includes confirming adequate pressure readings and testing water flow and tamper switches. Post indicating valves and priming levels must also be tested and drain tests for backflow devices need to be performed. The fire sprinkler riser will also be inspected to ensure that the hydraulic nameplate, if applicable, is attached and legible.
Annual Testing and Inspections:
Annual tests and inspections standardized by NFPA 25 include the monthly and quarterly regiment identified above but has a few additional requirements. All components of the system(s) are visually inspected, potential obstructions are identified, and an assessment is made to determine if the requirements of the system have changed. Each sprinkler control valve is tested, pumps are operated and water flow is measured. Every 5th year, an Internal Obstruction Assessment is to be performed during the annual test.
